Primers

Primers

Primers are extensively used in powder coatings, to reinforce the coating durability through anti corrosive activity from the exterior elements, primers also help prevent outgassing with substrates that are highly susceptible to excessive outgassing, such as galvanize steel or porous substrates like MDF. Primers can also be good to help provide a more smooth, evenly toned, and homogeneous final surface.

Here at the Akaj Powder Coatings, we provide three broad categories of primers:

Epoxy primers:

Are formulated with a careful selection of epoxy resins, fillers, and filler combinations to give a very durable, yet highly protective & anticorrosive base coat. These epoxy primers can be used on a variety of substrates such as various types of Aluminum, Steel, or various metallic alloys. It is important to note that the compatibility of epoxy primer to both substrate and topcoat must be tested appropriately for inter-coat adhesion.

Polyester Epoxy primers:

These primers are a combination of polyester and epoxy component in the chemistry backbone, with careful selection of fillers and additives. Enhanced inter-coat adhesion and good physio mechanical properties can be obtained.

Zinc rich primers:

With increased amount of our proprietary blends of zinc dust, we can have superior corrosion protection to the base substrate.
